Bottomley named to the Academic Team of All Districts


HIGH POINT, NC – Recent High Point University graduate and volleyball libero Abby Bottomley was named to the College Sports Information Director’s Association (CoSIDA) All-District Academic Team (CoSIDA), the organization announced Thursday (June 10). She is now going through the national ballot for the chance to be named Academic All-American.

This is the second year in a row that Bottomley has won an academic nod to all districts, just the seventh individual nomination to all districts in program history and the fifth named to the first team and qualifying for the ballot. All-American. She is the only Panther in HPU volleyball history to have won the honor twice.

The criteria for 2020 were based on career stats and Bottomley ended his career in the purple and white with 2,158 digs to place second in program history and among active Division I players. recoveries per set of 5.35 is the best the Purlims and Whites have ever seen and was fourth among active D1 players at the end of the season. Bottomley became the second Great South Player of the Year in team history this season and was the first Libero to win the award in conference history. The High Point District includes all of the Division I schools in North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Applicants must have at least a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and be at least in the second academic and sports year at their institution. Bottomley is one of two Big South volleyball players to be named to the CoSIDA All-District Academic Team this season.
