Sukhmani K. Padda, MD, was selected to lead thoracic medical oncology at Cedars-Sinai Cancer.

Padda’s research focuses on therapies for chest cancer. She is particularly interested in improving the treatment of patients with rare chest tumors – such as malignant thymus tumors and pulmonary neuroendocrine tumors – and lung cancer genomic subsets, such as KRAS– and EGFR– positive tumors. Padda also conducts research on tumor biomarkers to ensure optimal treatment.

“There are a lot of success stories in lung cancer, but the area still needs to be improved,” Padda said in a press release. “There is a lot of work being done on targeted therapies and how new therapeutic approaches can overcome resistance to targeted therapies. There are a lot of interesting questions; I’m happy to help find the answers.
