Disney+ Hilariously Drops Marvel Show’s Netflix Name

Fans were shaken recently when unexpected news hit the web: Netflix was going to lose its original programming based on some of Marvel’s famous characters, such as daredevil, Jessica Jonesand The Punisher. They could no longer be broadcast on the service on which they came into the world; instead, audiences should head to Disney+ to watch one of the series.

Netflix’s Defender universe was once its pride and joy, even with some of the critical failures it caused, such as iron fist. Many fans claimed daredevil to be some of the best live-action Marvel content out there.

With the various series now on Disney+, viewers have noticed a small but important change: In the new cuts of shows, every Netflix acknowledgment has been removed from their iconic credits sequences.

Netflix name removed

In the original opening credits of productions distributed by Netflix, the service’s logo was clearly visible in the opening credits. Now that their 6 Marvel shows have been moved to Disney+, that Netflix branding has been removed.

While the transition is natural for most, as the updated credits for daredevil below is a case where the new change is hilarious.

As noted by Reddit user 4ar0n, in Jessica Jones Season 1, episode 2, where the “A Netflix Original Series” graphic used to reside, the white squiggle underneath still remains, which is a clear indication that something has been deleted.

Other episodes of the Kristen Ritter-led series have had that white scribble erased; this is the only payment where it was withheld.

Disney+’s new Marvel shows

Little hiccups like this are always fun to catch. Fans should take advantage of it now, as it will likely be adjusted soon enough when the folks at Disney eventually notice its mistake.

There were concerns that the transition of shows to Disney’s service, which is generally family-oriented, might be censored in some way. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case, and it was just the company slogans that were adjusted.

It’s hard to believe how Netflix was able to actually lose the broadcast rights to the shows that were originally its productions. It almost feels like Disney+ is stealing them, although everything is perfectly legal and according to the books.

daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, iron fist, The defendersand The Punisher are now all available to stream on Disney+.
