Fiat enlists former senior Renault executive to lead global marketing

MILAN – Former Renault executive Laurent Diot has joined Fiat to lead the marketing and global communications of the Italian brand.

Diot is the second former Renault executive recruited by Fiat in recent months. His compatriot François Leboine has been at the head of Fiat design since June 1.

Diot, who took office on October 1, reports to Olivier François, global marketing manager for Fiat and its parent company Stellantis, Fiat said in a statement.

François said Diot is joining Fiat at a time when the resources the brand will draw from Stellantis “will allow Fiat to express its full potential in the world”.

With the arrival of Diot, “the Fiat world team is complete,” François said in the statement.

Francois said earlier this year that the brand’s product line will go electric-only between 2025 and 2030.

Diot holds a master’s degree in engineering management from Ecole Centrale de Paris and has an international career in the automotive industry spanning 25 years.

He joined Renault in 1997 and has held several positions in sales, marketing and business development in markets such as Europe, Asia, China, South America and Africa.

Roles included the director of operations in Morocco, the deputy general manager of sales and marketing of Renault’s joint venture with Dongfeng in China and the CEO of Renault Portugal.

In 2020, Diot returns to France to lead Renault marketing in his country of origin.
