Former Tucson star Ana Rodriguez to play softball for New Mexico State

Former Tucson High player Ana Rodriguez signed up to play for New Mexico State after ending her career with Central Arizona.

“Ana is a tremendous competitor with a humble heart,” said the New Mexico State head coach. Kathy Rodolphe said in a statement. “She embodies everything we value at Aggie Softball: character, hard work and selflessness. She’s also determined to help herself and her team be great. I can’t wait to train him.

– Earned First Team All-ACCAC and First Team Division I All-Region honors in his final season with Central Arizona.
-Recorded 8.11 strikeouts per seven of 121.2 innings pitched on his way to an impressive 19-2 record with a 2.99 ERA on the season.
-Among ACCAC pitchers, she ranked in the top five in wins, total strikeouts, strikeouts per seven innings and ERA.
-At plate, Rodriguez hit a .425 batting average and 1.361 OPS to finish as one of the best hitters on her team.
-Smashed 25 homers to rank second in the ACCAC and first among Central Arizona hitters.
-Also led the Vaqueras in RBIs with 83 RBIs on the year, finishing 22 more than the next closest batter in Arizona’s center while finishing second in the ACCAC.
-Included inside the ACCAC top 10 for home runs, RBIs, runs, hits and total bases.
-Leaded the Vaqueras to the second round of the ACCAC Region I DI 2022 tournament before falling to eventual regional champion Yavapai College.
