Sheets, Motorsport of the Week – Olivia Hylton

NEW RICHMOND, WV (WOAY) – As one of the oldest players in the 2021 roster, Wyoming East junior Olivia Hylton has been a key contributor in a squad where most players, due to the pandemic, experience high school softball for the first time.

But Hylton was able to make an impact in many areas of the game. In one of the first section rounds against Westside, she recorded a perfect game that included 13 strikeouts. In the championship round against Bluefield, the junior recorded five RBIs, including a home run in the first inning in the 9-0 victory.

Hylton says her goal in every game is to do what she can to help the team; she only knew about the perfect match after the final outing. She has also noticed the differences in the way matches play out when the Lady Warriors score first and often.

Wyoming East are back in the regions for the first time since 2018 and will face Independence in a best-of-three series; Game 1 is Monday at Coal City.
