Peacemaker insults many of his series’ heroes, with former Green Arrow actor Stephen Amell now reacting to the archer getting a name.

In the Season 1 finale of Peacemaker, “It’s cow or never”, Christopher Smith (John Cena) names and insults Emerald Archer, who delighted fans of the hero’s possible debut in the DC Extended Universe. While responding to a tweet asking what Amell’s stance was on Peacemaker’s profane statement, the actor replied, “Haven’t seen it. A running gag on Peacemaker is its main character’s open disdain for other superheroes, insulting them or believing outlandish rumors. Among Smith’s claims are that Superman “has a poo fetish,” that the Flash is “an insufferable d-bag,” and that Aquaman has sex with fish. These false claims culminated in an appearance made by the Justice League itself in the season finale, with Aquaman (Jason Momoa) expressing his annoyance at the rumor’s persistence and getting into a brief verbal spat. with the Flash (Ezra Miller).
Even with his hero’s conflicted relationship with his contemporaries, Peacemaker was a hit with audiences and critics alike, with “It’s Cow or Never” becoming the most-watched single episode in HBO Max’s current history. While it’s currently unclear who the spin-off will focus on, Casey Bloys, HBO Max’s chief content officer, said the project won’t be “in the same genre as Peacemaker; it won’t be so much a comedy as Peacemakerbut it will be in the same universe.”
