Wales U21 to face Moldova in UEFA U21 Euro 2023 qualifying opener

Wales have included two uncapped players in their squad for their first UEFA U21 Euro 2023 qualifying game against Moldova on Friday June 4th.

Swansea City defender Cameron Evans on loan at Waterford and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Elliot Thorpe are getting the first calls.

Cardiff City midfielder Rubin Colwill is unavailable as he is part of the Wales senior squad in Portugal.

George Ratcliffe, Brandon Cooper and Christian Norton are injured.

Manager Paul Bodin has also selected a side that is virtually unchanged from the friendly 2-1 loss to the Republic of Ireland in March.

The match against Moldova will take place at Llanelli’s Stebonheath Park and will be played behind closed doors due to coronavirus restrictions.

The other teams in the Welsh and Moldovan group are the Netherlands, Switzerland, Bulgaria and Gibraltar.
